Yesha MacDonald is an upcoming ceramic artist from Melbourne, Australia. She specialises in Japanese styled pottery where the wheel spins clockwise and she throws off-the-hump.
She has a background in graphic design and creative studio management, however having tried the wheel a few times as a child and in her teens, her fascination with clay and ceramics stayed with her over the years. It led her to Japan in order to fully learn the beautiful art form from a Japanese pottery master.
Her sensei (teacher) is Hiroshige Kato, a 12th generation potter specialising in the highest quality Akazu-yaki and Setomono tableware. Yakimono literally means "fired wares" or a general term for "ceramics" in Japanese.
